Hi Andy Murie here, I manage Belleek Hub here in the County of Fermanagh, the farthest west village in the UK, bordering County Donegal. Last year we set up Belleek CIC a non profit community interest company to manage the local Community Centre now Belleek Hub. Through our award from the amazing https://www.tnlcommunityfund.org.uk we have spent the last 7/8 months renovating and developing the hub as a community asset to be proud of. Part of that development and renewal was the introduction of Belleek’s first library https://belleekhub.org.uk/belleek-library complete with over 3000 adult, children and teen books of which over 2000 are currently catalogued and searchable in our online database. We offer free access and borrowing and are looking to provide children, adults and young adults access to book clubs, book signings, genealogy research facilities, invited guests and writing courses.
Nothing is really free
Of course when we say free, there is a cost, whether it’s utilities, books, materials, payment for speakers, access to subscription sites and so on. While we endeavour to make application for funding whenever available, this income stream is becoming difficult to access for a number of reasons and there’s much competition for available funds. Everyone involved in this project is a volunteer and for all of us it’s a labour of love.
We believe that £1400 to £1500 per year would be enough to do what we would love to do at the library and would hope that you would help us achieve our goal and develop this great asset for years to come. All proceeds of this gofundme go directly to improving the library facility for the community, let’s make it one we can all be proud of.
Many thanks for your help in advance
